On October 22, a ceremony was held to launch BFSU Academy of Regional and Global Governance.
Attending the ceremony were Liu Binjie, Chairman of the Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Committee of the National People’s Congress, Hao Ping, Vice Minister of Education, Guo Yezhou, Vice Minister of the International Department of CPC Central Committee, Zhang Jianguo, Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Security & Administrator of State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, Ding Wei, Vice Minister of Culture, and other guests.
The plaque of the Academy was unveiled jointly by Chairman Liu Binjie,Vice Minister Hao Ping, BFSU Council Chairman Han Zhen and President Peng Long, marking the official launch of the Academy.
The Academy is a research-oriented institution that combines teaching, research, policy consulting, and training. It operates in four thematic areas: to support China’s Going Global Strategy; to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and academic innovation; to strenghen the cultivation of high level professionals; and to publish research reports and academic works that reflect the research findings of the Academy and the latest developments related to regional and global governance. The Academy will adopt different innovative research models and mechanisms to enable smooth delivery of its research activities.
In addition to its administrative body, the Academy also has a Steering Committee, a Board of Directors and an Academic Committee. Li Zhaoxing, former Foreign Minister of China is the honorary Chairman of the Steering Committee. Chairman Liu Binjie is the honorary President of the Academy and Peng Long the President. Han Zhen, BFSU Council Chairman, and Ji Zhiye, President of China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, lead the academic committee. The Academy has also invited eminent people from the political, academic, business and media communities to serve in the above-mentioned bodies. Several BFSU alumni who have served as Chineses ambassadors are appointed as special research fellows to offer their unique perspectives on country studies. Scholars from well known universities and research institutions are appointed as senior research fellows for research subjects such as political, economic, cultural and social studies, diplomacy, law, journalism and communication, and international relations.
