The 2016-2017 Opening Ceremony and Scholarship Awarding in JSU

The 2016-2017 Opening Ceremony and Scholarship Awarding of the Overseas Education College of Jiangsu University was held at the Academic Auditorium on the 29th  of October, 2016. It was a great day indeed for everyone, where all the OEC students and faculty members were invited for the said special event.

    The entire ceremony was hosted by OEC’s very own Vice Dean, Ms. Wang Limin. Before the start of the program, there were special performances (singing and dancing) from our OEC students to entertain the audience while waiting for the event to start. 

The opening remarks from Mr. Yuan Shou Qi, the Chairman & President of Jiangsu University, addressed to the success of the OEC and the students. He also mentioned that one of the most important things is to stay motivated in studying and make the best out of JSU experience.

    As to give more encouragement to boost the students’ motivation, Mr. Zhang Hong, who is an OEC teacher in Mathematics, gave his speech and warmly welcome all the new students. While Mr. Siwathep Singh Khanderpor, represented the senior students through his inspirational words for everyone. We also heard a speech from the representatives of the undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as the student representatives  of the new scholarship students. 

    What makes it more special was the list of guest speakers for this year’s event, it was such an honor to have these respectable guests to recognize this year’s special event, Mr. YUAN SHOU QI, Chairman & President, Jiangsu University; QU ANLI, General Manager, Anhui Tiankang Group; Mr. ZHOU YONG, Campus China Network, CEO, and the loving and talented people from the Association of Zhenjiang Retired Citizens Painting and Calligraphy.

    In addition to that, it was the first time for the 14 entrepreneurs from different companies to attend the said event. This also served as the inauguration of Jiangsu University’s practice base for training International skills and talents by the school-enterprise cooperation. More than that, the JSU also received donations from these enterprises. 

    The program continued as they presented the donations of over 100 paintings by the talented retired citizens from the Association of Zhenjiang Retired Citizens Painting and Calligraphy. It was such an honor for JSU to receive these beautiful paintings and calligraphies from these dedicated retired citizens.

    Part of the ceremony was the Scholarship Awarding for the new students of  2016 CSC Winners, CIS Holders, Jasmine Scholarship Winners, CCN SET Scholarship Winners and JSU Presidential Scholarship Winners.

    As we welcome the new students, we also extend our happiness for the success of our senior students who worked  hard for unlocking new achievement as they also received their scholarship awards for 2015-2016 OEC Excellent Scholarship, OEC Social Contributors Scholarship, as well as the A&W Scholarship and Anhui Tiankang Scholarship.

    Ms. Gao Jing, the OEC Dean presented the certificates of honor to the new class teachers of OEC to extend her support to the OEC and the students. She also gave a speech  to welcome the new students and extend her gratitude to everyone who attended the said event.

This not only marked the start of our new semester but the start of building our new life here in China as part of the OEC family. Remembering our OEC motto, “ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM!” May all the students and whole OEC have an amazing years to come!
