When I first arrived in China, I had many doubts and fears. I was afraid that I would not be able to survive in this foreign country alone and I also doubted whether it was the right decision to have my Master's degree here. It turned out that I was worried for nothing. The Chinese students are very friendly and they even prepared a welcome party for international students. The WISE administrative office is also very supportive and is constantly asking for our opinions and suggestions on how to improve the program. WISE also holds a teatime gathering once a week, where we can converse with fellow students and professors in order to maintain good relationships. There was also this one time, where WISE held a dinner party and we had to perform. The Chinese students came on stage and sang together with us. That is a very memorable event because it made me feel like we are a big family, no matter which countries we come from.  Furthermore, the quality of the courses are exceptional that studying here is an important stepping stone to be a Financial Engineer and is definitely not a waste of time. Not to mention all the professors and teaching assistants are very professional, highly educated, and helpful throughout our studies.  Supported by great learning environment, this is the perfect place to pursue your thirst for knowledge. So, if you are planning to apply for this program, do not hesitate.  Higher education is the top step of the learning ladder. Xiamen University is one of the key international institutes focusing on the quality of the studying environment and up-to-date knowledge dissemination. It is an honor to me to be a graduate of the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) in Xiamen University as it is a top ranking school in the PR China. I was impressed from the beginning with the friendly and supportive community in this innovatively designed and modern technology supported teaching and learning environment of the school.  WISE is a research institute of Xiamen University in the field of Finance & Economics equipped with well qualified and experienced, academic and research staff. All the professors and tutors I have met are incredibly supportive and experts in their individual fields of teaching in English medium, although many of them are Chinese. They are indeed flexible to provide assistance even beyond the classrooms whenever I find difficulties with my studies. Besides the above mentioned, WISE provides exclusive opportunities for many International students like myself from Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand, Australia, Russia, Ghana, Niger and some European countries just to name a few to interact with professors and other Chinese colleagues during social events such as tea times and having dinner together in celebrating certain special events. It enables International students to get to know each other and my classmates are friendly and very helpful, therefore I didn’t want to struggle much with grasping of the Chinese language during my studying which has gone far beyond my expectations. My major is Applied Finance which is one of the most demanding professions in the global business context. I highly appreciate the school’s evaluation and grading system which ensures theoretical knowledge and application aspect so as to enhance confidence, opportunities and rewards. WISE is enriched with a separate library having a large number of books in all relevant subject streams. Most interestingly those who apply to WISE are eligible for the both Chinese Scholarship Council [CSC] and Xiamen University Scholarship schemes to which I was qualified to receive CSC scholarship in the last year. At last but not the least I should not forget to mention about the facilities we have inside Xiamen University. We have state banks, super markets, saloons, restaurants, hotels, playgrounds, swimming pool, golf grounds and gymnasium within the university premises. This has made the life convenient for me every day and saving time etc. If you are thinking of studying in China, speaking from my experience I highly recommend you to enroll in the WISE, Xiamen University. I am PHILIP ATSAGLI a financial engineering student in WISE. I have had an excellent tuition from experienced professors who are always ready to help solve student’s problems even out of class hours with super- modern teaching and learning facilities. An experience I want to share with anyone who wants to study in China. 

I like WISE at Xiamen University because of friendly teaching systems and congenial education environment that is contributing to the knowledge systems of twenty-first century. Since economical development is related with technological development, WISE plays role in the field of knowledge management that will facilitate to achieve such economic development.
