Guangxi University of Technology (GXUT), which was founded in 1958, is situated in Liuzhou - the industrial center of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is a comprehensive university with engineering as its main focus. At present, the university offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, covering numbers of different disciplines. It is one of the national key training centers for vocational education teachers appointed by China's Ministry of Education. The university covers an area of more than 198 acres. It was named as "Garden Campus" by the Liuzhou Municipal Government. GXUT has a highly qualified teaching staff of more than 1100, including over 300 teachers with senior professional titles, more than 270 teachers with doctorates or master's degrees. Some of them are experts with government subsides for their prominent contributions to the country, and some are granted the status of Provincial Excellent Experts and Provincial Technical Personnel with Outstanding Achievements. The university has invited about 130 academicians, professors and experts from home and abroad to be its visiting professors. Since 1999, many international students from different countries such as the USA, the UK, etc. have pursued their study in the university. Furthermore, the university has established extensive relationships of cooperation and exchanges with more than 10 foreign universities, including University of Cincinnati in the USA and Waterford Institute of Technology in Ireland.
