After months of preparation and expectation, 2016 ‘FLTRP Cup’ National Business English Practice Contest was successfully held on the evening of November 25th in Yunshan Hall.

Guests and judges from home and abroad, teams from all over the country and hundreds of audience members attended the event. LIU Jianda, Vice President of GDUFS, stressed in the opening speech that the ‘FLTRP’ National Business English Practice Contest provides a high quality opportunity to acquire business knowledge and practice English, and it benefits both the contestant and audience.

Vice President of FLTRP, XU Jianzhong, stated that such a contest is a good way for FLTRP to take social responsibility in the field of English teaching, and the contest is gaining stronger influence and attracting wider attention and participation, which can help with economic globalization under China’s unique condition.

Four teams entered the final: ‘Wild days’ from Harbin University of Commerce, ‘Palette’ from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, ‘Echo’ from Jiangxi Normal University and ‘Charizard’ from Guangdong University of Technology.   The contest consisted of two parts: presentation and Q&A. During the contest, four teams discussed a wide range of business topics, such as promoting Chinese traditional medicine globally, combining hotels with online gaming, internationalizing local copper companies and improving mobile advertising.   With the help of some multimedia technologies, contestants covered various issues, from design conception to practical management, from possible problems to solutions. They also saw the problems from different perspectives like target market, suppliers, consumers, product, service and budgets ? showing their fresh and unique insight into the modern business world.   Solutions to the problems showed great awareness of innovation by raising some new concepts and new methods like triangle model and AR (Augmented Reality) technology.   After all the teams had finished, judges made comments on the performances: firstly, remember ‘KISS’, which is ‘Keep it short and simple’ to impress the manager; secondly, take culture differences into consideration when entering a foreign market; lastly, businesses should be more consumer-focus.

At the end of the wonderful night, the results were announced. Best presenters: HUANG Zichen from Guangdong university of Foreign Studies, LIU Yanru from Jiangxi Normal University; Champion: Palette from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies; First prize: Charizard from Guangdong University of Technology, Echo from Jiangxi Normal University. - See more at: http://english.gdufs.edu.cn/Item/88745.aspx#sthash.fzIIOWso.dpuf
