Introduction

Hunan University, with a long history and a solid cultural foundation, is a national key university under the Ministry of Education of China. It is now a comprehensive and well-coordinated university featuring studies in engineering, with a strong foundation in science, a unique cultural background in liberal arts and its own characteristics in economics. It is also well-known for its motto of “seeking truth from facts and daring to take the lead”. Hunan University traces its origin to Yuelu Academy founded in 976 A.D. It was officially named Hunan University in 1926. Thus it is regarded as one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the world and has all the time been honored as a “One-Thousand-Year-Old Institution”. Hunan University has established long-term substantial cooperative and exchange relations with more than 70 universities and academic organizations from over 20 countries, such as the United States, Canada, France, Japan, and Korea. There are over 170 long-term and around 300 short-term overseas students studying in our university annually.
