Commonly used phrase for alternative questions in Chinese: “A 还是 B”:

E.g. 你  喜欢  苹果  还是  香蕉？ (nǐxǐhuan píng guǒ hái shìxiāng jiāo)

           A   or(还是 hái shì)   B

       Do you like apple or banana better? / Do you prefer apple or banana?

To answer an alternative question, we usually use the word “更 gèng”:

E.g. 我 更 喜欢 苹果。(wǒ gèng xǐ huan píng guǒ)

I like apple better/more. （I prefer apple.）

比起 香蕉，我 更 喜欢 苹果。(bǐqǐxiāng jiāo, wǒ gèng xǐ huan píng guǒ)

I prefer apple to banana.
