Green Bean Cake

Green bean cake is a traditional Chinese cate favored by most people. Due to different flavors of different areas, it could be put into several categories, which mainly include Beijing type, Suzhou type, Zhenyuantong (in Huzhou, Zhejiang), Zhanglin Ancient Alley (Shantou, Guangdong), Weifang Jingzhi (in Shangdong).
Nutritive value
Traditional Chinese medicine records that green bean is sweet in taste with cold nature. It functions to clear away heat and toxic material inside the body. Besides, it has functions of reducing diuresis to alleviate edema, removing nebula, and beautifying appearance.
However, it’s not appropriate for anyone to have green bean food. Pregnant woman, patients of cardiocerebral vascular system, orthopedic, nerve, and people of deficiency-cold corporeity should better take less. People with deficiency-cold spleen and stomach who have diarrhea should take care when having green bean.
How to make
Ingredients:
300 grams (0.66 lb) glutinous rice floor
200 grams (0.44 lb) non-glutinous rice flour
250 grams (0.55 lb) green beans
250 grams (0.55 lb) sugar
20 grams (1 1/2 tbsp) cooking oil
Procedure:
1. Wash the green beans and cook in 500 g (1 cup) of water till the beans explode. Put the beans into a container to cool off.
2. Mix the two kinds of rice flours. Add the sugar, oil and the cooled off beans and mix well. Put the mixture in a porcelain plate on whose surface oil has been rubbed. Steam for 45 minutes and the cakes are ready.
Features: Slippery and soft.
Taste: Sweet and delicious.
