Foreign Students Celebrated Dragon Festival with Chinese Students

some teachers and students from Confucius Institute at University of Antananarivo (CIUA) approached the Chinese community and celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival with local Chinese.

Chinese have celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival for more than two thousand years. However, for the Chinese who were born and grew up in Madagascar, the festival is quite unfamiliar. With video resources, the Chinese teachers presented the origin and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival. Some teachers even taught the local Chinese how to make “Zongzi”, widening the local Chinese community’s perceptual knowledge of the festival.

During the event, the teachers and students of CIUA presented entertainment programs as well, increasing the festival atmosphere and demonstrating the achievements CIUA has made in term of promoting mandarin and Sino Malagasy cultural exchanges since its inauguration more than 3 years ago,.

The event promoted Chinese traditional culture and the image of Confucius Institute among Chinese community in Madagascar.
